Disruption of Nighttime Peace

A loud late-night concert disturbs the small hours of the night with electric guitar, electronics and an installation of many speakers blasting through the Dampfzentrale.
A nocturnal sound installation with a blaring electric guitar and an assembly of seemingly randomly distributed speakers. Every single guitar sound is played «un-chronologically» through digital (on) cuts. Marcel Zaes places an electronic device between Virginia Arancio’s guitar and many amplifiers. This device mixes the sequence of the electric guitar sounds and generates new rhythmic patterns according to Zaes’s compositional technique. These pulsating «patterns» originate entirely from the digital world and are overlaid with human guitar playing in an on-going tension. Add to this the pure physical moment of the constructed situation: the vibration of deep bass, the screech of distorted guitar chords, the whistle of high feedback, digital sounds, coupled with a sombre, industrial architecture. All this mixes citations from rock, sound art and non-temporality.
