«it was tomorrow»
Performatives Konzert
rasenstück

In this spatial installation «rasenstück» by Zoro Babel and Andrea Lesjak, sounds are created through random movements of the visitors. The installation obtained the right to asylum from the République Géniale.

A piece of lawn, nine by five meters, on which one can stroll—just that? But no. This «piece of grass» designed by Zoro Babel and Andrea Lesjak is able to produce sound. Samples of drums, cello, nature and everyday sounds from Bern as well as purely synthetic sound waves were recorded in advance. Like a memory, the lawn absorbs these sounds and processes them electronically, depending on how the visitors move around on it.

This offers a playful way to explore the mechanisms. At specific places, sounds and sound sequences are triggered by touch. The samples are emitted out of five loudspeakers, consisting of old acoustic and playback devices arranged around the lawn. The opening piece, a percussion performance, is entitled «it was tomorrow».
The Radiomobil of Radio Antenne is on location 16.30–19.30
An event by Zoro Babel and Musikfestival Bern in collaboration with République Géniale and Hochschule der Künste Bern.
